Pirate Day

On friday I took the two big kids out on a special date. First we went to my favorite local chocolate shoppe and enjoyed a little treat...which is way too rich for me any more. I used to think I could survive on Hatch Family's hot chocolate -- but one of them about pushed me to the point of puking.  Not because it isn't to die for, but because it was just so much chocolate creamy goodness that I couldn't handle it.  In fact, where last winter there would be no way I could leave a drop in the bottom of one of their cups, I saved about the last two inches and let Gracie have it after the "Main Course" of our outing.  The kids chose Ice Cream for their treat -- sean ate every bite of his big chocolate cone and MG had peppermint.  I should say she had a bite of the peppermint ice cream she chose, and made mom work on the majority of it.  (It was great to have a little bite of the ice cream dipped into the hot chocolate and then slurped off the spoon). yum.
After our treats we went over to the SLAC building just north of downtown.  It is a darling theatre and we watched "How I Became a Pirate."  It was so cute and such fun for the kids.  We had front row, center stage tickets so the pirates were feet from us.  I am so thankful to have opportunities do things like this with my kids.

she's mad b/c she doesn't have a bird on her shoulder like "Max" from the play
After the play we came home, dressed up like pirates and played around the house.  I made pizza and salad for dinner, but pirates don't eat salad.  And they don't use manners.  So no manners at dinner that night.  It was a riot.  We'll have to have more pirate dinners, matey.
