Wishful Thinking

I got pulled over the other day. One week ago.  I was headed to take the girls out to lunch with friends and I was thinking of different things and chatting with MG about the dvd player in the van. So yes, i was distracted as I was driving. (Typical of a mom in a mini-van huh?)  Well, I got to the end of our street, looked left to see what oncoming traffic looked like, and without stopping or fully surveying the type of oncoming traffic, I pulled out on to the road.  So, in my distraction I failed to stop at a stop sign (the one at the end of my street) and also turned in front of a police car.  He didn't have to slow down for me or anything of that nature, but obviously he saw me not fully apply pressure to my brakes and stop.  I wonder how the story would have played out if I wouldn't have pulled immediately over at the next block.  I did get a ticket for failure to obey traffic signs. Dang it.  Wonder how long he'd have persued me if I chose not to stop...I mean, over a stop sign. Guess the ticket would be much different if I didn't pull over immediately, but who knows - maybe I'd have gotten away. ;)
